Blue Sky Geoscience is a small, independent geoscience consultancy. Our focus is on providing quality geophysical advice for mining and mineral exploration projects across the globe. The principal in the company is Mike Webb who is currently based in Santiago.
Mike is a geophysicist with 35 years of experience in mining and exploration geophysics. He has experience from geotechnical mine scale work to country scale targeting studies. He has worked in a wide range of geological environments and commodities. These commodities include, nickel (sulphide and laterite), copper (porphyry, IOCG, sediment hosted), iron ore, coal, gold, platinum, diamonds, phosphate & rare earth elements. He has on the ground experience in Africa, Australia, China, India, North & South America, PNG, Scandinavia and South East Asia. From 2009 to 2014 he was responsible for ensuring global best practise in the application of geophysics across the Anglo American Group companies. Prior to this he worked as a geophysicist for WMC Resources and Esso.
Deposits worked on include: Collahuasi, Quellaveco, Mantos Blancos, Manto Verde, El Soldado, Michiquillay, Los Bronces, Pebble, Boyongan, Ernest Henry, Sishen, Minas Rio, Landau, Moranbah, Sakatti, Barro Alto, Jacare, Morro Sem Bone, Mogalakwena, Black Mountain, Gamsberg , Skorpion and Yandan.
Mike was chair of the technical committee for the GGSSA (Ground Geophysical Survey Safety Association) in 2015-16. He is a member of the Society of Economic Geologists, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists. He is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
